Privacy policy

This policy explains what information paidbeforelunch.com ("Paid Before Lunch", "we", "us") collects and how it is used. The site is run by BFM Solutions GmbH, Switzerland, which is responsible for it under data protection law (address in our legal notice). The short version: the numbers you type into our tools stay on your device, and we show adverts from Google, which uses cookies.

The numbers you enter in our tools

Our invoice generator and calculators run entirely in your web browser. Your business details, logo, bank details, customers, invoices, quotes and calculator settings are saved in your browser's local storage on your device, so they're there when you come back. PDFs are made on your device. None of this is sent to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see it.

You can delete documents in "My documents", or everything at once by clearing your browser's site data for paidbeforelunch.com. The "Back up" button saves a copy as a file on your device; it isn't uploaded anywhere. If you use a private or incognito window, they are deleted when you close it.

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, our hosting provider (Google Firebase) records basic technical information when your browser requests a page: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems, and is kept only for a limited time.

Advertising and cookies

We show adverts provided by Google AdSense, which is how we keep our tools free. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see them and measure how they perform. Depending on your choices, these ads may be personalised based on your visits to this and other websites.

• You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
• You can turn off personalised ads from Google in My Ad Center, and from many other ad providers at aboutads.info.
• If you visit from the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, you'll be asked for your consent before cookies are used for personalised ads, and you can change your choice at any time using the privacy settings link shown on the site.

We also store your chosen currency in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it.

Your customers' details that you type into an invoice are kept only on your device. You are responsible for them as the business that holds them; we never receive them.

Legal basis (UK and EEA visitors)

We rely on your consent for advertising cookies, and on our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website for server logs. You have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict its use, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because we don't store your calculator data, there is usually nothing about you for us to provide, but please contact us with any request.

US visitors and state privacy laws

Some US states (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others) give you the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising. We don't sell your information for money, but the advertising cookies described above may count as sharing under these laws. If you live in one of these states, you can opt out with the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link shown on the site. You can also ask us to tell you what we hold about you or to delete it by emailing us; as above, there is usually nothing, because your calculator data never leaves your device.

Children

Our site is intended for adults and businesses and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

We may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
